An analysis of mail-in ballots shows 19,000+ votes accepted from outside North Carolina with no obvious explanation for why
Outright voter fraud is rare, but there’s a whole lot of grey area in election rules. And in a state where big-ticket races can come down to a mere handful of votes, lax policies can easily flip results.
I reviewed hundreds of thousands of absentee-by-mail ballots in the 2024 election, and found that a significant number of them are being mailed to working-age adults around the country.
In particular, there’s a pool of 19,000 voters who deserve greater scrutiny — but there’s no mechanism to verify where they actually live, and candidates have no way to challenge the votes, either.
North Carolina has safeguards in place to make sure the person who casts an absentee ballot is the person who requested it. But there’s very little ability to verify that they’re supposed to be voting in North Carolina elections to begin with.
