Messaging Memo: Poking fun at silly Democrat bills
Including a few (mediocre) meme ideas and a fundraising email template
As a journalist, I don't usually write about bills that have no chance of passing. It's easy enough for any legislator to file a bill, and there are plenty of kooky ideas that come out this way on both sides.
But when you're running a campaign, you have to approach things a little bit differently. Go ahead — poke a little fun at the silly bills that Democrats are filing right now.
There are two prime examples already:
House Bill 423 from Wake Rep. Julie von Haefen would ban restaurants from giving people plastic forks and napkins unless you ask for them.
House Bill 249 from Wake Rep. James Roberson would spend taxpayer money to study the issue of diversity in pickleball.
Yes, seriously. I absolutely love the House press office's stab at a meme on the first one.
But you can and should have some fun with this too.
Key message
If this is how they spend their time in the minority, just imagine what they’d do if they ran the place.
