You can run a campaign on a shoestring, with just a bank account and a website. But if you want a better shot at victory, you’ll need to spend a good deal more.

Longleaf Politics analyzed the expense reports for hundreds of Republican candidates in North Carolina, from the Council of State to General Assembly. We took copious notes on the most common consultants and vendors used.

In this article, we go over the most common:

  • Political consultants

  • Banks

  • Payment processors

  • Website builders

We also discuss the data providers, direct mail vendors, voter database management tools, and media buyers used by the biggest North Carolina campaigns.
