Andrew; Thanks for the article. Couldn't agree more on the importance of debates and candidate forums during primary season. These forums are vitally important to the 20% of voters who actually care enough to go vote in the party primaries- even more so now that the NCGA has permanently opened the primaries to Unaffiliated voters. (Yes, the Unaffiliateds have now supplanted the GOP and Dems as the arbiters of who appears on the November ballot.)

One debate we ALL want to see offered is the one for U.S. Senate. In particular we want to see you offer Whatley, Brown, and Morrow the opportunity to speak and dialogue the issues that matter. I suspect Whatley will demur, but I am 100% confident Brown and the others would welcome the opportunity to participate. Let me know if you need assistance making these debates happen. The Conservative Coalition of North Carolina (CCNC) stands ready to assist.

Agree and disagree. Yes, way back in 2014, the Tillis/Rove team proved they could duck debates, hide from their party base, and guilt us into supporting him in November. That’s how NC twice elected one of the most liberal “Republicans” in the Senate.

Disagree on the Forrest assessment because he kept playing the “nice guy” shtick during the debate, while Cooper was in full attack mode. From a pure consumer perspective, Dan came across as weak. After early voting began, a center-right female friend told me she voted for Forrest, “but he’s not going to win.”
