I’ve been experimenting with AI-generated video — and the results are both hilarious and a little terrifying.
This morning, I created a 30-second “attack ad” featuring a shrimp trawler peacefully working the water… until a black helicopter swoops in and a voice shouts, “Freeze!” It then cuts to a fake candidate saying, “Is this the North Carolina you want?”
It’s not real, of course. But it looks real enough. And the whole thing took less than two hours to make, using AI tools that are only getting better and cheaper.
This kind of tech is going to reshape political communications over the next five years. Rapid-response ads. Targeted persuasion pieces. Hyperlocal turnout videos. The barrier to entry is dropping fast. Can you imagine the Sheriff Sam Page campaign whipping something like this out in real time?
